What I'm Unlearning in 2025

Because this year isn't just about achieving my goals, becoming someone new but also it's about unbecoming someone I never was.
Somewhere between setting goals, chasing dreams, and becoming a person I never was, I realized:
It’s not always about what I need to learn.
It’s about what I need to unlearn.
So here’s what I’m shedding in 2025 — gently, intentionally, and one layer at a time.
🌪 1. Unlearning the Laziness
Being lazy gets you nothing, but being fast makes you tired and leaves you with no time to rest.
Until last year, I had my goals and dreams to achieve, but I didn't dare to start them.
In 2025, I'm reclaiming my pace.
I'm doing what I wanted to, starting it from scratch. Whether I'm slow or not fast, "slow is better and not lazy".
💬 2. Unlearning Silence
I'm unlearning the habit of staying silent, dimming my thoughts, agreeing, or doing what others like, not expecting to be treated how I treat them.
Whether now if it hurts them, now if they hate me, if they don't agree with me
I'm just being ME, even if I've to be alone for that.
Cuz don't be a GIVER always, learn to be a RECEIVER too, and also opinions matter from both sides, not just by one!
👥 3. Unlearning Comparison Culture
Comparing ourselves with others is what all of us do.
But when we are just different, when we are capable of doing more than we thought, why do we need to shrink ourselves in front of them whom we either saw on the internet or maybe just someone we admire?
This year, I'm unlearning to compare myself with strangers.
I'm ME and they're THEY. Their success is not my failure.
🌼 4. Unlearning Who I Was “Supposed” to Be
At some point, I was a person who used to give all of myself and got nothing in return.
The dreams I wrote in my "DEAR DIARY" when I was a kid, but kept holding them off.
In 2025, I'm giving time to myself (even if for that I'd have to make big changes in my life), but at least I'm prioritizing myself.
Just me — softer, louder, freer.
💬 5. Being “Low Maintenance” Is a Compliment
I used to think that if I needed less, maybe they'll call me more lovable, they will call me a "good low-maintenance person."
It just makes me feel like "I cannot ask for this cuz they think I'm a low-maintenance girl".
But wait, what about my likes? My needs? My happiness? My expectations? (getting shrunk of course)
So, it's okay to let them judge you to have standards, ask for what I need, without any apology.
🧠 6. Overthinking = Control
Overthinking is what controls our minds and takes us to deep seriousness, that we know will exactly ruin us, our minds, and our relationships.
And of course, Mental peace is important.
So, just remove the person (or you can just clear it with them), change the surroundings that let you destroy your mental peace, and make you overthink.
Cuz, honey, our minds deserve to be fresh and good, they don't deserve to be depressed over something.
🌙 Final Thoughts
Unlearning is the space between who we were and who we’re becoming, and it can happen anytime. You don't have to get ready for this. It can happen whether you are replying to someone, studying your notes (anytime).
So, get ready for this!
In 2025, I'm not trying to make a resolution or reinvent myself, but make myself better for my future days.
Making myself exactly who I am and who I want to be, not who others want.
💭 What about you?
What are you unlearning this year?
Drop it in the comments, share it in a story, or write it in your journal. There’s power in letting go — and even more in doing it together.
